The Spirit of Detroit

November 18, 2014

Here’s a Instagram video I made for The figurine in the video is a mini version of the statue called, The Spirit of Detroit. The statue is placed in iconic parts of Detroit, like the Joe Louis fist and the highly recognizable GM Renaissance Center. I hope you enjoy it.

Special thanks to them for collaborating during my travels in Detroit. They really are a good resource when traveling to Detroit.

Mens Style Guide

I really enjoy visiting Toronto but sometimes I forget how cold it can get during the winter. It’s a good thing I brought my “A” sweatshirt from Willy’s Detroit. It’s perfect for layering in cold weather. I’d like to think it stands for Antonio but it actually comes in every letter of the alphabet. Damn, not so lucky.

Against the wall

FullSizeRenderPhotos were taken at Joe Rockhead’s in Toronto, ON

I have a new respect for indoor rock climbing. I’ve seen people scale up mountains on TV but it was a lot more physically and mentally demanding than I thought. This was my first attempt at climbing and I have to say I’m pretty proud of my accomplishments.

Midtown Detroit

Midtown Detroit

Midtown Detroit is located just north of Downtown and is one of the most booming areas in Detroit. The area has boomed because of all the new developments that have been popping up the last few years. Midtown has tons of art galleries, restaurants, museums and trendy boutiques all in walk-able distance. The area seems very community based so there is always something going on like poetry reading or misc performances.

Some of my favorite spots in Midtown are located in the Cass and Canfield (or Midtown North Cass) area. Two of favorite boutiques from the area are called Shinola and sister their store Willys. Shinola and Willys are connected to each other not only in area but both only sell goods from America. Willys has an assortment of brands including FILSON, STEVEN, ALAN, MOLLUSK, CLARE V, while Shinola focuses on leather goods, hand crafted bikes and fine watches. Pictures from inside are above.

Notable food mentions include:
Avalon – serving up Michigan-made and organic goodies since 1997
La feria – Spanish Tapas

Traveling to Detroit

I try to go back to Detroit, MI to see family at least once a year but this time it will extra special because I’ll be hooking up with to share some cool things happening in “The D”. I’m kind of excited about it because it’s like killing two birds with one stone. Make sure to check my Instagram and Twitter to hear about my Detroit experience.

The Nautical look

September 28, 2014

I love to squeeze out the last bit out of summer before it runs into fall. Today a group of friends and I went out on the docks to cruise the Pacific and enjoy the sun. I’m lucky to have friends with boats so I don’t have to spend the money on one. Here’s one way to get “the Nautical Look” without dropping anchor on a new boat or tons of money in department stores.

Kayaking in the Puget Sound

September 11, 2014

Ballard Kayak invited me out to enjoy their Discovery Point Kayak & Hiking Tour. As this was my first time Kayaking, I was a bit nervous. My guide gave me a brief training lesson on the beach and afterwards we were off! The 3.5 hr tour starts at Golden Gardens and continues on to Discovery Point. Once at Discovery Point, we went on a short hike to Discovery Bluff to get a view of the Olympic Mountains. Before heading back to Golden Gardens we enjoyed a gourmet lunch and paddled through Shilshole Marina. During the trek back I got to see a few animals like eagles and sleepy floating seals. My experience with Ballard Kayak was fantastic and I recommend it to any one who enjoys being out on the water.

I took my GoPro along with me so you can experience the tour as I did. I hope you enjoy it!

Moore Coffee – Seattle

August 14, 2014

If you’re traveling through Seattle and looking for one of those not so secret but cool spots that most know about but few have been, then you should check out Moore Coffee located in the heart of downtown Seattle. What I like about Moore is the intimate atmosphere and relaxing décor.

Moore Coffee X 1930 2nd Ave.Seattle, WA 98101

Not only does Moore produce an assortment of delicious hot and cold caffeinated beverages but they also have a small kitchen that creates Instagram worthy breakfast waffles and sandwiches. My favorite choice to order is the Strawberry Shortcake waffle, which has fresh strawberries that are smothered in whipped cream and hot Matcha green tea latte.

Deighton Cup 2014

Deighton cup style

My outfit: Blazer/Topman Trousers/Express Shirt/Zara Shoes/Zara

Deighton cup 2014 was amazing! Not only was the event filled with awesome people dressed in 1920’s style fashions but there was delicious food by Cocktails and Canapes and great musical entertainment too. This is my second time going to Deighton cup and some how it’s good every year. Maybe it’s because they always pick days with excellent weather or maybe it’s the type of people the event draws. Either way you look at it, what a great day to be in Vancouver!
