Men’s Fashion Trend Fall 2013: 90’s Grunge Look

The 90’s grunge look is one of my favorite Men’s fashion trend for Fall 2013. 90’s grunge includes clothes like, flannel shirts, acid wash jeans, denim jackets, wool sweaters, Converse shoes, toques, boots and black leather jackets. This low-maintenance look will give you a little edge without having to try too hard. The grunge look also gives you tons of layers to take on and off for cold fall situations. If you need more inspiration, think of Kurt Cobain or the 1992 comedy movie Singles. Ahh I love Seattle in the fall, it smells like teen spirit!

How to purchase a Suica Card

A Suica card is a reload able smart card used as a fare card on rail lines in Japan. To purchase a new Suica, you will need ¥2000 (¥1,500 prepaid, ¥500 deposit). When you no longer need your Suica card, you can return at a JR East station or subway office.

The benefit to having this prepaid travel card is convenience. As a foreigner you may not want to carry around tons of loose change in your pocket or slow down the line counting yen at rail station restaurants. In the video above Yuta and Mihoko from Tokyo Daily Life will show you how to purchase a Suica card and some of its additional uses.

Nordstrom Men’s Shop & GQ 2013 Fall Runway Show (Photos)

The Nordstrom Men’s Shop & GQ 2013 Fall Runway Show was presented at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue on Sept 26th. Before the fashion show VIP guest mingled with celebrities such as Dan Savage, Isaiah Thomas and Detlef Schrempf .

Although the show was quite short GQ and Nordstrom style experts presented an assortment of different looks.

Nordstrom Men’s Shop & GQ 2013 Fall Runway Show

The Detlef Schrempf Foundation, Nordstrom Men’s Shop and GQ are collaborating together for a Fall 2013 men runway show this Thursday, September 26th. GQ and Nordstrom style experts will present a runway show that will spotlight the best of the Men’s Shop collections and will be featuring local celebrity guest models. All proceeds benefit the Detlef Schrempf Foundation and the evening’s charity partners – Bellevue Youth Theatre Foundation and Inspire Youth Project. If you’re not attending, I will be uploading photos for the blog.

5 Must have mobile apps you’ll need when visiting Tokyo

Whether you’re going to Tokyo for business or holiday you’ll need at lease one these apps to get around smoothly in the land of the rising sun.

5. iTranslate – iTranslate will record your speech in English and translate it into Japanese. This app comes handy when you’re having difficulty expressing yourself, for instants getting lost, needing help, or asking questions.

4. Tokyo+ (Rail Map) – If you’ve seen the Tokyo rail map you’ll understand how confusing it can be. With this app you can study the rail system with no Internet connection and with GPS support you can find the closest rail station close to you.

3. Circle – With circle you can find out what’s going on locally in the city using your GPS. With this app you’ll find out information like weather forecasts, big news, events and people in your area. Information is power!

2. Line – If you don’t have a phone service while in Japan you may want to check out this app. Now I’m not really into Emoji’s and stuff but if you want to message and call your new Japanese friends for free give that app a tap.

1. Your bank app – It doesn’t matter if you have HSBC or Bank of America either way you are going to need to know about your funds. I recommend knowing how much money you have in the bank account at all times. Foreign charges can and will sometimes sneak up on you and you don’t want to be unaware in emergency situations.

TOKYO: THROUGH MY LENS

For those who follow me on closely know I am a huge fan of Japanese culture. There’s something about the bright lights, the business, and cultural differences that excite me. Today I will be traveling from Seattle to Tokyo for the second time and will be capturing the things I see through my new camera and lens.

Although I will be focusing on Tokyo I will be uploading videos on how to get around in Japan featuring tips and tricks. If you have any suggestions on things you would like me to cover let me know.

Olympus OM-D E-M5

You can call me an Olympus fan boy if you want but I really enjoy their cameras. I especially enjoy the AF (auto focus) and size of their micro 4/3 cameras, which are great for on the go and nonintrusive for private occasions. My previous camera the Olympus elp-5, was a joy to use and a great learner tool for prosumers transitioning into a pro DSLR.

My new camera the Olympus OM-D E-M5 has the same sensor as my previous but more beefed out features. Some of these features include a extra battery holder and weather sealed body for a more rugged build. Below I’ve pointed out some of OMD’s highlights.

Highlights of this camera:

  • New, ‘5-axis’ image stabilization
  • Shoot at up to ISO 25,600
